NOTE: As decided at the 2018 preseason Fall league meeting, the 2019 Fall season will use WOOD ASA approved Softball bats only. Composite all wood bats are legal. No "Corndog" type bats will be allowed (polymer type handle, wood barrel, polymer hybrids, etc). Note: Any women players may use wood bats or any approved bat from the Roxbury Spring league list.
2019 Entrance Fee will be $350/ team (~8 games (depending on number of teams) plus playoffs) including majority of ringer/youth set fees.
In order to participate in the league each male player must be 30 years old by April 15 of that playing season and meet one of the following requirements: (a) be a legal “in town” resident (driver license or other acceptable written documentation) of Roxbury Twsp, Mt. Arlington, Mt. Olive Twsp, Netcong or Mine Hill, (B) be a graduate of a Roxbury school, (C) be a Roxbury Township employee, or (d) be grandfathered into the spring league as a result of playing in the league before relocating outside the Township grandfathered as of 2012 season.
Ringer: In addition to the above eligibility requirement each team will be allowed to include 5 out of town players on their roster. Flat fee included with the league entrance fee for up to 4 ringers. The cost for each out of town ringer over the fourth is $25.Out of town players are not grandfathered.
In addition each team will be allowed to have up to 4 players on their roster between the ages of 18 by Sept 1 (see below for 18-20 exception) and age of 29 by December 31 of that playing season. Only active player’s sons between the ages of 18-20 years old are eligible to play on the same team as their father. Flat fee included with the league entrance fee for up to 3 players. The cost for each youth ringer after the second is $25. Please note if a player is under 30 and does not meet the golden participation criteria it would cost that player $50.(I.e. out-of-towner $25 under age$25=$50).
To be eligible for the championship tournament; If a team played 8 or more regular season games: legal roster player must play minimum of 3 regular season games. If a team forfeits more than twice in the regular season, they are not eligible for championship tournament.
If a team received a forfeit at the field all members at the field in the lineup get credit for that game . If a team recieved a forfeit prior to their scheduled game, all members of roster gets credit for participation for that one game.
If a team forfeited NO members receive credit for participation for that game.
If a player was injured and missed minimum number of games a verbal waiver must be submitted prior to start of tournament to advisory board. Advisory Board will rule on player eligibity.
The maximum number of players on roster is 20.
Teams are required to keep a scorebook, lineup written in ink. The captain/coach of each team must be able to verify number of games played of roster players prior to the tournament. The HOME team captain is responsible for taking a photo via phone of both teams lineups and submitting (texting) to the designated league official within 48 hours of game end. If the photo is taken pre-game then the VISITING captain is responsible for providing the HOME team captain their "updated" game book if any players joined after the photo was taken prior to leaving the field. If HOME team does not submit photos, all visiting team roster members are credited a game while HOME team roster is not.
Team may not start a game with less than 8 players. In the event a team has 8 players, the opposing team will supply a catcher. This catcher shall retrieve pitch balls but may not participate in the “play” of the game. If a team has 9 or more players, they must supply their own catcher. In the event of a game with one team having 8 players and the other team having 9 players, both opposing teams will supply a catcher. There is no waiting or grace period unless a team has less than 8 players to start the game. After 15 minutes a forfeit will be declared if the team cannot field 8 legal roster players.
